ABSTRACT

INTROSPECTION, a Guitar Workshop in Ottawa’s historic Mechanicsville neighbourhood, is an homage to the materiality of wood, woodworking, and the process of it growing from the earth. The same way music grows and is nurtured from an idea inside a musician, wood grows from the seed buried beneath the earth. Using rammed earth that is derived from the aggregate of the existing structure, a 100% recycled building is achieved through recycled materiality. Reintroducing the products of wood and earth into harmony, INTROSPECTION plays the song of mother nature.
